PREPARE TO BE INSPIRED AND UPLIFTED
Recognise that whatever challenges you face in your life, you have the power to control your response
Disabled with polio from the neck down aged 5, I was told I would never walk again. I faced many challenges growing up, including disability, abuse and racism. With persistence, determination and GRIT, I overcame these hurdles to become the owner of several successful businesses, a social enterprise and have recently launched a charity to help disabled entrepreneurs start-up in business.
“My story is one of entrepreneurship, disability, resilience and overcoming adversity. I believe that the main factor which determines success is GRIT.”
I have won numerous business awards and in 2013 was invited to meet the Prime Minister David Cameron at the launch of the government’s Disability Confident initiative. In 2018, my autobiography, ‘I Can I Will’ became a No.1 bestseller on Amazon. In 2022 I was proud to be awarded an MBE for my services to business in Leicestershire.
“Let me prove that with GRIT, it is possible to overcome impossible odds to achieve success.”
Here is a short extract of a recent talk I did at De Montford University on GRIT: What you need to survive and thrive.
